OUR GUIDES

“The finest gift you can give to any fisherman is to put a good fish back, and who knows if the fish that you caught isn’t someone else’s gift to you?”

-Lee Wulff

Kodi Pickle

Kodi Pickle was born and raised in the small town of Saltville, Virginia. This is where he still resides with his wife Kelli and springer spaniel Jolene. He grew up just miles away from streams full of trout and rivers full of bass. Big Tumbling Creek is the stream that stands out the most to Kodi. This is where, with help from his dad, trout fishing become an addiction. Camping and fishing this stream every weekend for as long as he can remember as a kid. He was introduced to fly fishing as a Boy Scout attending Merit Badge University at East Tennessee State University. That was where it all began. In 2018, he graduated from Western Rivers Professional Guide School located in Victor, Idaho. After completing guide school, he purchased a 16ft Clakacraft low profile drift board and began offering guide trips down the South Holston River, Watauga River, and New River. He loves teaching beginners about the sport and learning new things from veterans of the sport. Learning something new every day is just all part of the process.

Brian Stewart

Brian Stewart resides in the small town of Saltville Va tucked away in the Appalachian Mountains.  Brian started fishing with his dad when he was old enough to walk. One of the most anticipated days of the year was the opening day of trout season in Virginia which he was unable to sleep the night before due to his excitement. He was introduced to fly fishing in 1989 by his high school football coach and has been obsessed with the sport ever since. Being an avid outdoorsman he has been fortunate  to hunt and fish all across the United States but couldn’t feel more blessed to have some of the best trout streams east of the Mississippi River in his back yard.  He’s been fishing the Holston rivers and their tributaries for over 30 years.  Brian, Kim and their son Berkley spend as many days as they can on the water or outdoors enjoying God’s wonderful creations. Offering both guide and float trips Brian really enjoys teaching clients a variety of techniques in fly fishing from European nymphing to wet fly and streamer fishing. He personally thinks that one of the best gifts you can offer to the sport is getting someone new on the water because most of the time from that moment foward they will be contributing in the conservation of fly fishing.
